Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series (A.C.T.S.) is a free, twelve week substance abuse program designed to equip each client with the tools necessary to break the bonds of addiction. The program consists of 12-17 one-hour classes each week, and participants are awarded a certificate documenting their completion of the course. By participating in the A.C.T.S. program, individuals can meet their court-ordered requirements while also benefiting spiritually.
ACTS provides our community with a proven, faith-based pathway to becoming free from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. A.C.T.S. is a curriculum-based, self-help recovery and educational program. It offers a holistic approach that encompasses the emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of an individual or family.
ACTS is supported through private contributions, making it possible to offer the program free of charge. The Alcohol Chemical Treatment Series (A.C.T.S.) is a ministry that reaches out to the community and offers this spiritual growth opportunity, following the example set forth by Jesus to show compassion to those in need.
#3) The program encourages spiritual growth as a means of helping individuals deal with the obstacles they face when working to overcome alcohol and chemical abuse.
The A.C.T.S. ministry is built around a series of classes which constitute a court-approved, substance abuse program. Most courts and probation/parole programs require individuals with alcohol or drug-related offenses to attend a substance abuse program. The A.C.T.S. program works hand-in-hand with the judicial system by providing attendance records to the appropriate authorities.
How the class is taught:
It’s a curriculum-based program that educates participants about drugs and alcohol and is the staple of the course. In each class meeting, participants are taught background information on alcohol or a specific drug, a visual/object lesson application is given, and then a brief historical story is given that reinforces the application.
This combination approach is designed to salt the individual’s path, producing a thirst for a drug/alcohol-free life. A.C.T.S. offers a way for individuals and families to breakout of the cycles of physical, emotional, financial and legal problems associated with alcohol and chemical abuses. The program stresses the importance of the participant accepting responsibility for a successful recovery and reinforces a positive character development. One of its key elements is offering support and encouragement from people who’ve been there and are now living a productive life.
